In terms
of what happens to existing learners when a new auto-assigned learning
program is created and assigned out, this seems different from how
it was done in DiscoverLink Talent before the Gen Z release.
Yes, we have enhanced this process. Prior to the Gen Z release, when
you created and assigned out an auto-assigned learning program, existing
learners (with the specified skill positions) did not receive the
assignment – only new learners received the assignment. Our clients
frequently asked for an easy way to get learning program assignments
out to existing learners, so we enhanced this process in the Gen Z
release. Now, in Gen Z, when you create a new learning program and
auto-assign it, the assignment goes not only to new learners with
those skill positions, but also to existing learners with those skill
positions.
If I am
working on a learning program that is already assigned out and I click
Save on the learning program builder without making any changes, is
anything going to happen?
If the learning program was auto-assigned, yes.
Every time you click Save on a learning program that has auto-assign
enabled, your changes propagate out, and the learning program will
be auto-assigned to any users who have the specified skill positions
and who are not currently assigned the learning program. This means
users who were assigned the learning program and then were manually
unassigned will receive the assignment again.
What happens
if the learning program has a condition for a skill position that
is not one of the skill positions used for auto-assignment
The item that condition is on will not appear in anybody’s learning
program because the learners who received the auto-assignment are
not the ones the condition applies to.
What if
a learner has a learning program assignment but does not meet any
of the conditions set for the content?
If a learning program has conditions for each content item and it is
assigned (auto-assigned or manually assigned) to a learner who does
not meet any of those conditions, the learner will see nothing on
the My Training page and will have a full circle with a blank assignment
menu on the dashboard.
Is there
a way to auto-assign a learning program to all existing users based
on skill position but then not have that learning assigned to new
users with those skill positions?
Yes. Start by assigning the learning program to existing users based
on skill position: create the learning program, set the auto-assign
on for those skill positions, and then let the learning program make
the assignments. After the assignments have been fully made, go back
into the learning program builder and uncheck the skill positions
in auto-assign. The result is that existing users receive that assignment
but new users who come in through HRIS or who are manually added will
not.
